Things I Bought In London
I’ve recently taken a trip to London and I’ve bought some stuff there that I’d like to share with you. There’s also an article about the trip itself on my blog –> click here for the article about the trip.
WARNING: This post is going to be very long.
You always hear that London is an expensive city and don’t get me wrong, it is. But some things were cheaper to buy in London than at home, shoes for example and some skincare and makeup. I also can’t get most of the makeup brands in the Netherlands so I was very happy when I found out that they sold those products there!
I’m lucky that I have a size 3,5/4 in UK size, that means that I can buy shoes from the junior section and those are way cheaper than the shoes for adults. These Nike Airforce shoes are sold at a store called Footasylum and as you may know, I’m a sucker for pink so I had to have them of course.
The Nike Airforce 1 in a pink suede, they are normally around €110,00 but I ended up paying just €57,30 for them!
The next pair of shoes is actually a funny story. These are the Nike 95’s in silver. My girlfriend always wanted these shoes and I always thought that they were sooo ugly! But when we were in the sneakerstore JD I got intrigued.
When I saw them at the junior section I thought they looked a lot better than the adult version. They don’t have the appearance of a “heel” in the sole since the sole is a lot more even. The only downside is that the junior version doesn’t have that cool reflective stripe on the side of the shoe but I can live with that. I paid €89,49 for them.
I still need to get used to the style because I normally despise shoes like this but I’m really glad I purchased them. Besides, everyone in London was wearing them!
Moving on to skincare, I’ve been eyeing the Kiehl’s midnight recovery oil and eye cream for a while now. When I visited the Kiehl’s store at Oxford street I bought the eye cream. It was €31,44 which saved me €4,00 because they retail for €35,00 in the Netherlands. It’s not much of a difference but it counts.
Everyone in the beauty world has raved about this cream and how it improved their under eye circles.
This is a night treatment, in the picture above you can find the ingredients. The fact that it contains alcohol is a bit weird to me since that causes skin to dry out and that also causes dark circles. But if the cream works good despite that I won’t mind.
You only need a tiny bit for both eyes. The cream feels very hydrating and not too thick. When it’s smeared out you don’t even feel it on your skin anymore.
The people that worked at Kiehl’s were so nice to us! The woman that helped me was very sweet and heard that I also wanted to try the Midnight Recovery Concenrate, so she gave me a sample of it. I ended up really loving that sample so my girlfriend was so sweet to buy it for me.
She explained to me that the product contains essential oils and more that helps repair the moisture balance of your skin. When I heard that I was determined that this was a product for me.
The ingredients look very good, you can see lots of different kinds of oils. You also only need to use 2-3 drops every night so the bottle wil last me for a while.
The oil doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin and it smells lovely! I’ll write a full review about the two skincare products soon.
There’s also a huge Lush store at Oxford street, they had a lot more products there than I was used to. I haven’t noticed the toner waters before so I decided to test them in the store and I ended up buying the Eau Roma Water.
The idea of spraying toner on your face seemed easier somehow. I still had some makeup watches on my hand so I tried to remove them with a cotton pad and a little of the toner sprayed on it (from the tester in the store). It removed the makeup SO quickly, there even was a liquid lipstick on my hand. You could choose from different kinds of toner, I chose the one for sensitive skin.
The ingredients look very good, which is to be expected of lush. The spray is also very good, it makes a fine mist instead of squirting big drops of the product on your face. The only thing that I don’t like is that it doesn’t smell nice, I expected it to smell nice because of the lavender water and rose water. But it just smells like glue to me. Since the product is so good, I’m willing to look past the smell. I don’t remember how much I paid for it but it costs €13,25 in the Netherlands.
Nars is also a makeup brand that I haven’t seen in dutch stores. I’ve always heard a lot about the velvet matte lip pencils so i decided to give it a try.
The color I’ve chosen is called Walkyrie and it’s a warm dark nude (the colors I usually go for). It’s a chubby lip pencil that’s basically also a lipstick. I really love the formula!!! It’s the most comfortable matte that I’ve ever worn. It’s not really drying on the lips and it feels very light. I bought this product for €21,47.
The next product is also a lipstick but from Clinique. I actually got this one for free at Selfridges, it was a long wait in queue but it was definitely worth it.
The lipstick is supposed to be a primer and lipstick in one and the shade is Nude Pop. It’s a nice wash of color on your lips since it’s not that pigmented and it feels very nourishing. It retails for €22,50.
I’ve been on the look out for this eyeliner from Pixi because Kathleenlights talked about how this was one of her favourite eyeliners of all time. The problem is that I couldn’t find it anywhere online so I was thrilled of course when I saw that they had Pixi products at Marks and Spencer.
So this is basically an eyeliner with a brush tip, not a velt tip. The difference is that a velt tip is stiffer and harder to work with. This eyeliner is comparable to the Kat von D eyeliner that is very popular.
It looks very promising! The liner is very pigmented and you can make very precise lines with it!
Another brand that I was very excited to see was Too Faced! I wanted to buy so much more but my wallet wouldn’t let me :(. So I chose something that I could get the most use out of. One of their newest products: the Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette.
I’ve seen every youtuber with this gorgeous new palette and I was so jealous. The funny thing is that just as the chocolate eyeshadow palettes (that smell like chocolate) this eyeshadow palette smells like peach!
Swatches of the first row of eyeshadows, from left to right: White Peach, Luscious, Just Peachy, Bless Her Heart, Tempting and Charmed, I’m Sure.
Swatches of the second row of eyeshadows, from left to right: Nectar, Cobbler, Candied Peach, Bellini, Peach Pit and Delectable.
And the swatches of the third and last row of eyeshadows: Peaches N’ Cream, Georgia, Caramelized, Puree, Summer Yum and Talk Derby To Me.
The colors are lovely, they are also very pigmented and soft to the touch. I see myself using this palette a lot in the future. The price was €47,16.
Last but definitely not least…. I bought a Stila Liquid eyeshadow.
If you haven’t heard anything about them, you’ve been living under a rock! Everybody is shocked by the intense pigment and glitters of these eyeshadows and everyone is using them. I’ve bought the shade Kitten Karma and I love it!! Unfortunately they didn’t have any other shades at Marks and Spencers so I could only buy one shade. I haven’t tried them on my eyes yet but from what I’ve heard, they aren’t very easy to blend. I did notice that the swatch on my hand stayed put and didn’t want to leave my hand easily, which means that it will also last very long on my eyes.
In the picture above you can see the description of the product. I bought it for €26,40. You can also order this product at beautybay.com, they deliver for free!
I also saw Kat von D makeup in London. I didn’t buy anything because I wasn’t blown away by the products. The formula was great but in the eyeshadow palettes were only matte shades which I personally think is a little boring. The liquid lipsticks were also good but I didn’t find a shade that spoke to me. I did think about buying the contour palette that I’ve heard a lot about but I don’t really contour my face, when I do I can always order it online.
Those were all of the products that I’ve purchased in London. It’s a miracle if you made it to the end of this post. If you read this, I appreciate you!
