How To: Apply Face Makeup & In Which Order
This is a tutorial on how to apply your face makeup. It’s all about the right place and order, I created illustrations to make it easier for you!
I haven’t been posting much this month because of my final exams of this school year… But I really wanted to share these tips and illustrations with you guys. I’ve been working on them for about a week now, I hope you like them! I also want to keep up with posting at least every week, let me know if you have some topics that you’d like me to discuss.
BEWARE: This is not a natural makeup look at all but more for a night out or special occasions!
Step 1: Foundation
Well, this isn’t actually the very first step because you start the day with your moisturizer and after that your favorite primer. But you get the point. Apply your foundation to your whole face with a dense brush (kabuki or other foundation brush), this type of brush gives your foundation high coverage. You can also choose for a beauty sponge to give it a more natural look. Make sure to also drag the foundation down your neck a bit to avoid a harsh line along your jaw.
Step 2: Concealer
You can use a concealer that has the same skin tone to give blemish area’s more coverage. But you can also use a slightly lighter concealer to highlight under your eyes, your nose, forehead, and chin like a lot of the beauty guru’s do. As you can see there’s a triangular shape made under the eyes that goes up a bit towards the hairline. This gives your eyes and face a lift and makes you look more awake and fresh. You can blend this out using a brush, but I prefer using a beauty sponge or even just my finger.
Step 3: Contour
Now let’s give some depth to the face and make your cheekbones pop! For contouring you basically accentuate where the shadows fall on your face. For this, you need to use a cool toned matte powder to make it look natural. Apply this using a fluffier brush. Make sure you first apply powder all over your face to set it. That way other powders will blend easier on top. You can also choose to use a cream contour instead of course, then you don’t have to set your face yet.
Step 4: Bronzer
To make yourself look alive and give your face a little warmth back, you can use a warmer toned bronzer on your forehead, cheeks and maybe a little on your nose. You also don’t have to use a matte bronzer, you can also use one that gives a soft glow. Apply this using a fluffier brush again.
Step 5: Highlighter
You already know this is my favorite step! Let’s add some glow to your beautiful face. Apply this with a fluffy and precise brush on the highpoints of your face. Everyone is highlighting even their foreheads a little nowadays!
Step 6: Blush
The final step to tie it all together, blush. Use a fluffy brush and swipe from the apples of your cheeks to the back towards your hairline. Make sure you don’t apply too much or you’ll end up looking like a clown, but it’s okay, everyone has been there.
Now your face is all done and ready to blow the world away, use a setting spray to make it last all day and you’re ready to go!
