5 Tips For Healthy Hair
Lately I’ve been noticing a big difference in my hair because I’ve been more cautious for what I use on my hair and how I treat it. Here are my tips for healthy hair.
You’ve probably seen the insta hype about the Sugar Bear Hair vitamines everywhere. I haven’t tried them out so I don’t know if they’re really that good as they claim to be. But you can also buy supplements that contain Biotin that is also very good for the hair and nails. I’ve noticed that my hair and nails definitely grow faster!
2. Embrace your natural hair
The main key for healthy hair starts from within. It took me a while to like my curly hair, I used to straighten it a lot. My hair got so damaged… I’ve decided a while ago that I won’t straighten my hair that much anymore. I only do it once every 6 months now I think. I’ve seen a huge difference in my hair but my curls still don’t look like they did before. When you choose to use a heat tool on your hair, don’t do it too often and always use a heat protector!
3. Get your hair cut every now and then
It’s important to get rid of the split ends if you have them, there’s no way to repair them and it could only get worse. I usually get my hair cut every three months, though I haven’t been for about 6 months now and I really need to go. It doesn’t sound logical but your hair actually grows faster if you cut it regularly! You also don’t need to worry about it being a lot shorter than you’d like. There are new techniques for cutting hair that prevents the big chop.
4. Use the right products
Be careful with the products u use, a lot of the products that you currently use can be bad for your hair without you knowing it or noticing it. You should try to stay away from the following ingrediënts:
Dimethicone: this is technically a silicone oil that leaves a film over your hair and makes your hair feel smooth. It’s mostly in products like conditioners, hair masks and detanglers. The reason you don’t need this ingredient is because it only creates the illusion of moisturised hair while your hair needs real moisturisers more like natural oils, extracts and shea butter.
Alcohol: as you probably may already know, alcohol dries out your hair. I do advice you to avoid this ingredient in most cases but cetyl alcohol can actually help to condition your hair and make it feel soft and easy to manage.
The conditioner that I really like for my curly hair and that doesn’t have really bad chemicals in it is the L’oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil one.
5. Don’t wash your hair every day
I used to do this and it dried out my hair pretty bad. I try to wash it every other day now or once every three days and it has made my hair feel way less dry. It’s also softer! At first it’s hard because your hair is used to it being cleansed every day, it will feel greasy if you wash it less often but that’s because your hair needs to balance itself out again.
